Video

Videos can be used to teach visual students.  Students all learn differently, and many grasp the information through visual aids.  Movies are ideal for teaching those types of students.  It can also be used to enhance the class instruction, to bring out a topic, to make books come alive, and to show how classical novels can be understood through the modernization of the stories.

Reflection

For this assignment I made a video entitled Jamaica Kincaid's Antigua.  This piece will be used to show the setting of the novel, some pictures of Jamaica Kincaid and the different cover representation of the novel Annie John.  This piece will be used to peak the interest of the students as an introductory into the novel and its writer Jamaica Kincaid.  

The main challenge in making the movie was with the sticking of movie maker 2.6 every time I added the caption to a picture it stuck.  I had to restart the the programme at least four times to complete it.  This prevented me from making the movie any better than what was presented.  I do not know how to improve it using movie maker 2.6 it was difficult to use it while making this movie.

Wiki Reflection

For this assignment I created a wiki to use in my English B class.  The topic it covered was on Jamaica Kincaid's novel Annie John to be used in the second form class.  The main challenge I experienced was with adding the URL link.  I eventually just copied and pasted the link and the template I used accepted the link that way.  I would have preferred to have had a wiki with more links to study guides and online test on Annie John, however after having tried a t least three times to make the wiki I just decided to be as simple as possible to complete the assignment

Based on my experience while making the wiki I think that they can be used as an external classroom.  A place to put addition notes and resources for students to access.  Homework and assignments can also be out there as another avenue for students and parents to tap into.  There are many times students are absent for one reason or another; they would be able to access their work through that medium.  Another way it can be used is to have the students create wikis for group assignments or to use as a study tool, they can research and paste on the information they need on the wiki to study from.
